A good number of Career Training classes are set to begin in September at Sandhills Community College.
Successful completion of the Auto Safety Inspection course will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. Must have a valid driver’s license.
Auto Safety Inspection class will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 13 and 15 from 6 - 10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
Successful completion of the OBD Emissions Control Inspection course will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. Students must be Certified in Auto Safety Inspection. This is also the Recertification class.
The OBD Emissions Control Inspection class will be held Tuesday, Sept. 20 and Thursday, Sept. 22 from 6 - 10 p.m. The cost is $75.00.
Bank Teller Training is designed for those interested in finding employment in a bank, this course will include an introduction to banking operations, handling cash, balancing operations, customer relations, and security procedures. Upon successful completion of the course, students are guaranteed an interview with a local bank.
Bank Teller Training will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, Sept. 20 - Oct. 27, from 6 - 9 p.m. The cost is $130 plus text.
The Notary Public officially authorizes participants to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.
The Notary Public class will be held at the Sandhills Hoke Center, Tuesday, Sept. 13 and Thursday, Sept. 15, from 5:30 - 9 p.m. The cost of $75 plus text.
Real Estate Pre-Licensing course provides an intensive review of topics and is designed to prepare the student for the sales and broker licensing examination. Topics covered include real estate terms, contracts, leases, ownership, licensing law, finance, listing and closing of property, property valuation, and building construction. Prerequisite: Work Keys Reading and Math, Level 5 or higher or verification of a post-secondary degree.

Skills, Tasks, and Results Training (START) program, developed by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), is a 24-week program that gives students the real-world knowledge and skills needed for an entry-level employment in the hospitality industry. START provides an overview of the hospitality field while integrating core skills such as reading, writing, technology, and math. Upon successful completion, students earn an industry-recognized certificate.
START class will be held Tuesday-Thursday, Sept. 13 - Feb. 16 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. The cost is $185.00 plus text and materials.
Wine Types and Sensory Evaluation, instructed by Ben Weathersby a certified Sommelier, provides an overview of the major types of wines from around the world and factors affecting their quality. Students will also learn an overview of wine service. Upon completion, students will have a thorough knowledge base for employment in restaurants, wineries, and at wine tasting events.
