Post-High School Graduation Camp

05-03-2017

Not everyone graduates high school knowing how to find success in the workforce. Some go straight into a low wage job, while others find something that pays better but offers little in the way of career advancement. Neither of these options can set you on the path to be able to live the sort of life you may desire down the road.

Sandhills Community College is offering a post-graduation camp for recent high school graduates who are unsure if they should attend college, but it could still be an option.

On Mondays through Thursdays, June 12 through June 22, from 9 am until 3 pm, “Bridge to Career and Curriculum” will help participants explore possible careers. Lunch will be served each day, and all fees are waived for un- and underemployed students.

Among the various activities, like attempting Zumba, learning interview skills, and working with a virtual welder, participants will be exposed to the multitude of career training programs offered by Sandhills and the job opportunities available. Not only will the group tour the SCC campus, they will visit area businesses and learn about careers that can be locally attained.

Whether it be preparing for a job or entering college either now or in the future, SCC seeks to help recent graduates improve work and study skills.
